The big push in Tablets Newspaper apps is using 
the "Magazine" template,
which is very wrong.

This gives us web newspaper sites that look like this: 



Not bad, but still too cluttered.


And This, the New York Times effort:



Which IS Customizable, with clickable
stylesheets.


A foot looking for a comfortable shoe.

 This One works for Me and points to the value
of customization.

is geared toward.

This really works for Magzines but it's pretty hard to shoehorn newspapers into the Flipbook paradigm.

Something in between and new would serve them better.  But what is the silver-bullet question. 


The take away, newspapers online are having an
Identity Crisis and until That is resolved, newspapers will continue to slide.
